Rhône. "You had to dare to have something different": their unusual houses are the work of Lyonnais Georges Adilon

Between 1960 and 1980, Georges Adilon built houses with unique geometric shapes in the west and south of Lyon. The painter and architect from Lyon, to whom we owe the Marist movement, played with shapes and light to design living spaces where every corner has its purpose and where vanishing points are presented as a picture. In Brignais, Danielle had her house built in 1978. In the Monts d'Or, Nicole and Gérard fought to validate the building permit for a house described as a "wart on the landscape."

"I still occasionally discover vanishing points, details, curves." In the more than forty years she's lived here, Danielle has never stopped seeing her home as a work of art. She lives in "Maison K" in Brignais, one of the buildings designed by the Lyon painter and architect Georges Adilon.

Between 1960 and 1980, he built around thirty of them in the Rhône, Isère, Loire, and Drôme departments. More than ten are hidden in the west and south of Lyon, in Brindas, Francheville, Écully, and more.

“We had to tell him how we lived.”

From the outside, the crooked facade, made of curves and recesses, is puzzling. But once you step through the front door, the various rooms fit together like a puzzle, each little...
